Invitation: Fieldwork at Stroom The Hague
On Thursday 25 April, a meeting will take place in The Hague at and around the artwork Park in the Water by Vito Acconci Studio, address: Johanna Westerdijksplein. The afternoon is part of the Land Art Lives programme, organised by Kunstmuseum M. & Land Art Flevoland in Almere and revolves around the future of land art.
About the artwork
When developing the area into a campus, Vito Acconci used the old harbour structure to make a radical intervention. Like a shard of the landscape, he created an island that threatens to drift off like a sloping ice floe. During the afternoon, we examine the force field around Park in the Water, to be found behind The Hague Hollands Spoor railway station. This area is due for another facelift in the coming years. This calls for a sustainable solution for managing this iconic work of art.
Method emotion networks
The meeting will be guided by Marit van Dijk of the Heritage Lab of the Reinwardt Academy. We will approach and discuss the artwork using the method ‘emotion networks’. Emotion networks originated in the practice of heritage work: if heritage tells us who we are and want to be, everyone should have a voice in making meaning and choosing it.
No preparation is needed - after an introduction about the method and the art work, everyone has enough baggage to participate. In good weather, part of the meeting will take place outside.
