Registration for platform meeting in cooperation with the National Cultural Heritage Agency now open

We welcome you on Thursday 20 June 2024 to the platform meeting Art in Public Space at De Verbeelding in Zeewolde, a beautiful location overlooking Sea Level (1996), a work by the recently deceased artist Richard Serra. We are organising this meeting in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) within the context of Land Art Lives.

During this afternoon programme of presentations, case studies and discussion, we will look at the story of Dutch landscape art through the lens of (Post ‘65) heritage.

Many of these artworks were realised from the 1970s onwards, in relation to the landscape and the built environment. Because of the elapsed time and changes in the environment, artworks are in need of restoration. Nor were they always made with the idea of lasting forever. How do you restore these artworks? How do you stay true to the artist's intentions? What does climate change mean for landscape art and how can we encourage and facilitate knowledge development for this art form?
