Traveling along land art: from LA to Salt Lake City

Reisverslag / Travelogue

Program makers Anne Reenders (Kunstmuseum M.) and Martine van Kampen (Land Art Flevoland) embarked on a journey across the United States to visit renowned land art, meet with various speakers, and engage with partner institutions.

Van Kampen started in New Mexico, with Reenders joining her in Los Angeles. Together, they drove towards Utah, with Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty and Nancy Holt's Sun Tunnels as final destinations. How do these iconic works of art relate to a changing world? What regulations govern the ownership and management of the artworks there, and how are audiences reached? Are there other forms of land art that convey different narratives?
